When you love ice cream as much as we do, choosing a favorite flavor is serious business. That’s why we asked our team to share the Ice Cream Factory flavors that make them smile, and their answers came with heartfelt stories. 

From our founder’s first hand-cranked Blackberry Cobbler to our HR Manager’s family tradition with Caramel Praline Pecan, here’s a look at the flavors that mean the most to the people behind the brand. 

Blackberry Cobbler: Shannon’s Favorite Flavor comes with a History lesson 

Blackberry Cobbler is one of our best-selling flavors, and for good reason. 

For Shannon, our founder and the creator of this beloved classic, Blackberry Cobbler is more than just a flavor. It is a taste of where everything began. 

“Our first scoop shop sat across from Gerbes,” Shannon recalls. “So I walked over, grabbed frozen pie crust and a few boxes of blackberries, and carried them back like treasure.” With nothing but a hand-crank ice cream maker packed with salt and ice, Shannon created that very first batch, layering baked pie crust and fresh blackberries by hand before sliding it into the deep freezer. 

“It wasn’t perfect,” Shannon admits. “But it was simple and honest, and it tasted like all the hope we had when we were just getting started.” 

That first tub of Blackberry Cobbler captured the heart of Ice Cream Factory: humble beginnings, handmade with care, and a whole lot of love.. 

Caramel Praline Pecan: Ashley’s Sweet Family Tradition and one of her favorite ice cream flavors

For Ashley, our friendly and beloved HR Manager,  Caramel Praline Pecan represents more than a creamy, nutty indulgence; it’s a taste that evokes history and eager expectation. 

“When I first started at ICF, I couldn’t wait for the day we would make praline pecan just so I could finally try it,” she says. “It was exactly what I hoped it would be.” 

Praline Pecans are a holiday staple in her family, a flavor that truly evokes comfort. “Every year, my grandparents gift me a case (or sometimes two) of Praline Pecan to enjoy throughout the year,” Ashley shares. “They’ve always been supportive of my career and have become some of our biggest fans. They even advertise Ice Cream Factory to their friends!” 

For Ashley, each scoop of Caramel Praline Pecan tastes like family, love, and pride in the work she helps create every day. 

 

Butter Pecan:  Austin’s Scoop of Nostalgia 

Austin, our innovative and genius IT guy, loves Butter Pecan. He says it is a trip down memory lane… Even to a time he never lived in. 

“It reminds me of when life felt simpler,” he says. “When cash registers had a bell, tipping your server meant they did well, and going outside to play meant drinking from someone’s garden hose before running back in.” 

For him, every spoonful is a time machine: “The rush you feel when those memories come flooding back, you can’t experience that until you take the journey with a spoonful of butter pecan. The moment you finish it, you’re right back here.” 

Butter Pecan, for Austin, is not just ice cream. It’s nostalgia served cold. 

Cookie Dough: Mark’s Classic Comfort 

Mark, our Vice President of Sales says his go-to flavor has always been Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. For him, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is a timeless choice that hits the perfect balance. 

“It’s a simple flavor, but the real, full chunks of cookie dough we bake and add are unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere,” he shares. “Rich, chewy, and nostalgic in the best way.” 

As someone who usually avoids overly sweet desserts, Mark says Cookie Dough “satisfies the craving without being overwhelming. It’s one of the few flavors I can finish a whole container of without feeling too guilty.” 

Classic, comforting, and a little indulgent, Cookie Dough is proof that sometimes, the simplest things bring the most joy.
